Although litigation is never the first option we generally recommend to our clients, sometimes the unreasonableness or the lack of responsiveness by another party to overtures of negotiation, settlement or dispute resolution are ignored and litigation is required. The attorneys of Shipley & Horne, P.A. have years of experience in court related litigation that range from handling capital offense cases before the Court of Appeals, to handling a matter in Small Claims Court. Litigation today includes adjudicating matters before both administrative agencies, as well as in judicial forums, and mediation and arbitration are often mandatory requirements in legal disputes. The attorneys of Shipley & Horne, P.A. are extremely adept in handling cases in any of these forums.

Respected by the members of the State and Federal Courts, two firm partners serve as Alternative Dispute Resolution Coordinators for the District Court of Maryland. Additionally, attorneys within the firm serve as judicial alter egos at the specific request of several judges. This post is created so that any dispute or concerns raised about a judge’s action in a court case can be delivered by attorneys in that case to our specifically appointed alter ego attorneys. Our alter ego attorneys then relay the issue or concern to the judge without the reporting attorney being concerned of judicial repercussions.

The firm has litigated several complex matters for several government agencies, as well as its private clients. We also represent individuals in personal injury matters, family law issues, as well as civil, contractual, education and employment related matters.
